Cheap fuel: the route decides the price, not just the pump
The cheapest gas station nearby is not automatically the best choice. A ten kilometre detour burns fuel and time, and quickly eats up the saving per litre. Tankmapper adds everything up: price per litre, the number of litres you actually need and the cost of the detour on your own route.
Three steps to the cheapest fill-up
- Enter your start and destination — the route appears on the map straight away.
- Set your tank level with the fuel gauge, in litres or as remaining range. You can also pick your make and model to fill in tank size and consumption.
- Choose your maximum detour — Tankmapper picks the station with the lowest total cost.
What really drives your fuel bill
- Motorway or local roads: motorway stations are almost always dearer than a pump a few minutes away.
- How much you fill up: two cents difference is small on 10 litres and significant on 55 litres.
- The detour: every extra kilometre costs fuel, and that cost is deducted before any station is recommended.
- Border regions: near Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg or France a cross-border comparison often pays off. Compare countries.
Where the prices come from
Tankmapper uses per-station pump prices from the public station feed, OSRM routing and open vehicle data. When you plan, you see when the prices were fetched — reported prices per station, not estimates.
