Why we built it
Fuel price apps tell you what a litre costs. They rarely tell you what the stop costs: the detour, the extra minutes, the litres that actually fit in your tank. That gap is the whole point of Tankmapper. We start from the trip you are actually making and answer one question: where should you stop, how much should you buy, and what do you save compared with simply pulling in at the first station on the way?
Who is behind it
Tankmapper is a product of Sonneveld Communicatie & Advies, a Dutch sole proprietorship. We are a small team: development, data work and support are done by the same people, and e-mails are answered by a human.
How we make money
Two ways, both stated openly. Advertising pays for the free version. Premium (€1.99 per month or €14.99 per year) removes the ads, raises the saved-vehicle and saved-address limits and adds e-mail price alerts for fixed routes. No fuel retailer pays us for placement; ranking is purely price, detour and your own constraints. If a station wins, it is because the arithmetic says so.
Our stance on data
- We show the measurement time of every price instead of implying it is live.
- We discard implausible readings rather than pass them on.
- Where data is missing, we say “unknown” instead of estimating.
- Extra travel time is reported in minutes, never converted into euros for you.
The method is documented in full on how Tankmapper works, including its limitations.
Where we are heading
We began with the Dutch–German and Dutch–Belgian border, where the savings are largest and best documented, and are extending coverage across Western Europe. Feature requests from drivers shape what we build next — tell us what you are missing.
